A profound origin and long history of the I-Kuan passes on for generations, spreading far and wide

The Lineage of Tao. The transmission of timeless classics. The reign of noble rulers. The propagation of Tao through Confucianism. The opportunity for acquisition of Tao amongst commoners. The one constant.
 
27 & 28 April 2023 marked the inaugural “Southeast Asia – 10 Forum” organized by the I-Kuan-Tao Headquarters, held at PARKROYAL on Beach Road Hotel in Singapore with the theme “Embracing Chinese Traditional Culture in the Modern World”.

學習承辦 全力以赴

承蒙一貫道總會付託，崇德新加坡道場學習承辦。從初步建立工作小組到開幕式，共62天。接待十個道場單位：發一崇德、發一慈法、發一慈濟、發一天元、安東、基礎天基、基礎忠恕、寶光崇正、寶光玉山、寶光建德；與會人員含本地共十二地區代表：台灣、中國、馬來西亞、泰國、印尼、柬埔寨、老撾(寮國)、越南、緬甸、汶萊、菲律賓、新加坡，包括中、台學者8位，前人、點傳師77位，壇主講師81位，共166人。

Put forth the best efforts to organize

Singapore Chong De Cultural Association was honoured and humbled to host the forum. It took sixty-two days to organize, from the formation of the organizing committee to the completion of the event. The participants included ten groups of the I-Kuan Tao Communities, namely Fa-Yi Chong-De, Fa-Yi Ci-Fa, Fa-Yi Ci-Ji, Fa-Yi Tian-Yuan, An-Dong, Ji-Chu Tian-Ji, Ji-Chu Zhong-Shu, Bao-Guang Chong-Zheng, Bao-Guang Yu-Shan, and Bao-Guang Jian-De.
There were twelve participating countries: Mainland China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei, The Philippines, and Singapore. We were honored to have eight Mainland China and Taiwan academics, seven Reverend Elders and Tao Initiators, eighty-one Temple Hosts and Lecturers participate, for a total of 166 delegates.

文化風俗 現代接軌

島國雖然處東南亞，但是，生活、教育、社會、乃至於職場皆是以西方制度爲主，在62工作天，工作組員學習許多，也深刻體悟、省思不同國家的習俗，特別是華人如何在傳統文化薰陶的環境中，如何與現代機制接軌。

Integration of Culture and Tradition with the Modern World

Despite geographically situated in Southeast Asia, Singapore’s lifestyle, education, environment, and workforce emulate that of the West. In the 62 days of preparation, every individual from the organizing team reflected deeply. They were inspired to consider the various cultural context of different nations, especially on how Chinese who were brought up under the influence of traditional culture can be the bridge in the modern world.

榮耀團隊 兢兢業業

無極生太極，太極生兩儀，兩儀生四象，四象生八卦，八卦定吉凶，吉凶定大業。

Honor of the Team to work conscientiously

Wuji 无极 (Boundless/Infinite) formed Taiji. Taiji 太极 (Ultimate/Finite) created the opposing forces: Yin and Yang. The Yin阴 force and Yang阳 force interacted to form the Four Symbols or Four Phenomena. The Four Phenomena 四象formed the Eight Trigram (Bagua). Bagua八卦 will decide on the auspiciousness or ominousness of matters. Accurate judgement of these will determine the greatness of the matter.

自古華人，玩味數字，樂此不疲，認爲數字應該是活的，不定的；但在現代的管理學裏，反倒成了不精準、不專業的指標。當規定是100就是100，不多也不少，差異值越少，越顯示這個作業的專業性，這個團隊才會被人尊敬。不休息菩薩在2023年4月9日崇德海外點傳師班慈示：「以後報告時，不可用『應該是、大概是、大約是』。」

Since the dawn of time, Chinese had loved playing number games and believed that numbers should be fluid and indefinite. However, when this idea is placed in the context of modern management, it is deemed inaccurate and unprofessional. When a number is no less and no more than the stipulated amount, then it is where a hundred means a hundred. The smaller the deviation from the true value, the more professional the work and the more respect the team receives.
 
During a gathering for all overseas Tao Initiators on 9th April 2023, Never-Resting Bodhisattva instructed, “When reporting, do not use phrases such as ‘It should be…It is probably… It is about…’”

時間管理 專注精確

當時間成爲一個不利的因子時，要完成目標的代價變高，這代價包括選項變少，控制能力、經濟成本、健康成本，乃至於團隊的名望。有些事情，用黃金也沒辦法換取的。在英國倫敦的公共巴士車，到站下客後，門一關，再開門時，一定是下一個車站。不會因爲乘客遲到而開門。

Focus on accurate time management

Time is not on our side. When time becomes an unfavorable factor, the cost of achieving a goal increases. The cost includes fewer options, limited control, change in financial capital, health, and the reputation of the team. There are just some things that money can never replace.
 
In London, once the door closes after passengers alight from the bus, the next time it opens will be when the bus is at the next stop. Doors will not open for latecomers.

異國文化 精彩交流

此次大會各國代表，生活、習俗、飲食習慣不同，辣淡茶飲各不相同。在報告中，讓各國瞭解彼此在修辦過程中的異同，相互讚揚，加油打氣！本地翻譯人員，也借此操練，即席翻譯，把平時的學習現場揮灑。閉幕式中，各國身著傳統服裝出席，百花齊放；結束時，以自身語言互道珍重，後會有期，彌勒家園，重現人間。

Wonderful exchange of culture and tradition of different countries

The delegates of various countries have different lifestyles, traditions, diets, and tastes. In their reports, the delegates from every country shared the similarities and differences in Tao cultivation and propagation in their respective countries. They praised and encouraged one another. The Singapore interpreters took the opportunity to practice what they have learned and did simultaneous translations.
During the closing ceremony, delegates proudly donned exquisite traditional costumes. The scene was that of hundreds of flowers blooming concurrently. As the forum came to an end, the hall filled with reluctant goodbyes in different languages. Everyone wished each other the best in the propagation of Tao, to bring the Maitreya Heaven onto Earth. Till we meet again!

世界村，就是互相包容、互尊互重、一起歡笑、一起生活、一起學習，有容乃大。古代與現代，東方與西方，人情與道情，專業與業餘，取捨之間，成爲習慣、成爲文化，也成爲品牌。

The Great Dao is the most precious of cultural branding

A global village is one where people respect, tolerate, and cherish one another. Laugh, live, and learn together. Whether in ancient or modern times, in eastern or western cultures, within human or Tao relationship, or with professionals or amateurs, between the giving and the receiving, Tao becomes a habit, becomes a culture, becomes a branding.
